In franchising, identifying star performers early and giving them the opportunity to grow in the system is key to long-term success - and it's an area that Wisconsin-based pizza concept Toppers Pizza has embraced for more than 25 years. Recently, Pizza Today spoke with Toppers Pizza Founder and President Scott Gittrich about ways the brand has honed talent to drive the franchise's success.
“Moving up in our growing concept is baked into our cake,” Gittrich told Pizza Today. “I know the future of our company is in the eyes of the 18- to 25-year-olds I meet in our restaurants all the time.” The company has built a solid corporate support team from those who have worked in the brand's restaurants, and those individuals are better able to support the brand's growing number of franchisees. “We very rarely look outside our company to pull anybody into operations or even field marketing,” says Gittrich.
