Things are heating up for the pizza market in Dayton and Southwest Ohio and it is attracting the Toppers Pizza brand.
Toppers Pizza is actively seeking a franchise partner to open multiple locations in the Dayton area.
Toppers Director of Franchise Development Mark Cairns said in a phone interview.
The Whitewater, Wisconsin-based pizza chain operates two locations in greater Cincinnati and is developing a third there, but the franchise owners of the Cincinnati restaurants are not looking to add Dayton operations, Cairns said.
Toppers was founded in 1993, and now operates 74 restaurants in 12 states. About one-third are corporate-owned, and two-thirds are franchise-operated. The chain has more than doubled the number of units since 2011, when it operated 30 stores. And Cairns said the company’s goal is to double again to 150 locations in the next five years.
Toppers’ seven varieties of “Topperstix” are popular, accounting for 25 percent of sales, Cairns said. Half of all orders include breadsticks, the franchise development director said.
If the right franchise partner is found, the local market could see more than one Toppers relatively quickly. “We only do multi-unit deals,” Cairns said.
